Bad idea?

We are getting the boys a water table but it needs to be big enough for both of them to have room to play at the same time. I thought maybe we would get a sand and water table (they seem bigger) but put water in both sides because I hate sand. Good idea or bad idea?

  • I vote good idea!

You could also do rice, if you didn't want to do sand.

Rice is a good alternative for winter or if table is going to be an indoor toy.

That is a good idea.  I like the idea of one or the other but not both.

That said, we have the step 2 water table and my kids (5, 3 & 1) all play with it at the same time.

    I love the rice idea.

Definitely a good idea. We have the Step 2 Play Up sand and water table (I liked that it had an umbrella to provide a bit of shade as our yard has none), and have always filled both sides with water. Works great.

  • Sounds like a much better idea than having sand and water in the same table.  Surely my kids would not be the only ones who would be likely to take all the water, dump it into the sand, and then play in the resulting "mud."

Oh no, not just your kids. I'm sure mine would them eat the sand. I did plan on using uncooked rice or dried beans during the colder seasons.
