What's your quirk? (NBR)

It doesn't seem like PgAL does a lot of NBR posts, so if this out of line, or not a path that should be pursued - just let me know and I'll cut it out. 

I was reading Frogyie's post below about the various things she's noshed so far today and she mentioned that she had cocktail shrimp.  I wrinkled my nose about it because while I love shrimp, I can't eat them when they're just laying around in a bowl all naked.  I need for them to be covered in batter because cocktail shrimp, or peel and eat shrimp, still basically look like they do when they're swimming around in the ocean - minus their heads.  Conversely, I can eat a chicken breast w/o batter because it doesn't look like an actual chicken.  Does that make sense? 

Anyway, that's one of my quirks - what's yours?

This for me too. My own strange quirk is I have very sensitive hearing, white noise machines drive me up the wall. Our testing center in college had one and I had to wear ear plug to take a test.

I have to grate cheese or grind pepper a precise numbe of time- 5,10,15,20, etc I can NOT stop at like, 3. I'm weird.

OMG, ITA!  But not with stryrofoam, just with regular foam...like a foam mattress for example.  :::shudders:::

Another quirk?

When DH and I get ready to leave the apartment/house, I am talking the door is open and he's waiting for me to come on already, I have to rush and get a sip of water before we leave, every. single. time!

I can stand all sorts of bodily fluids, but snot makes me actually vomit.  I know that once Raquel gets here I'll deal with hers with no problem, but I just can't look at it at all!  When I was a baby sitter in high school, I would walk around with baby wipes in my pocket, wiping the toddlers down constantly.  Its just SO gross!!!!

Oooh I'm with you all on the styrofoam, but its the sound more than anything. Honestly I'm weird about noise in general, I mostly can't stand sports, but especially on Tv... the noise of the crowd screaming incessantly makes me batty.

And the sound of people chewing. My mom chews loudly and it skeeves me out.

when I used to drink Diet Coke, I would swish it through my teeth to get some of the bubbles out....I did it without even thinking.

I never knew it was weird until my bf at the time, asked me what I was doing and thought it was the weirdest thing ever.

Just the THOUGHT of styrofoam squeaking against itself gives me chills. Ick. I also hate the similar squeak of wet sneakers on carpet.

I can't set my alarm clock to a normal time- if I need to get up around 7am, for example, I'll set the alarm to 7:03am.

I also pull out my eyelashes when I'm REALLY stressed- gross, I know!!

 lol...I hate snot. This morning DS had a huge, green, slimy booger hanging out of his nose. DH grabbed it with his fingers and pulled it out and it just kept coming and coming. I started gagging and was thisclose to puking!

This, except it applies to newsprint for me.  Before the internet, I would only get my news from the radio, TV or Newsweek magazine because I refused to touch a newspaper.

I have so many other quirks, it's ridiculous.  But another weird one for me is one that I mentioned on TTCAL a few months ago - I have a "Banned Word" list that includes words that absolutely irritate the living sh!t out of me.  The top three: Moist, Panties, and Fresh.  Any use of that word in around me by DH is an offense worthy of divorce.  UUUUUURRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH - even thinking of these words makes me want to punch someone in the face!

I literally just laughed out loud. That is so funny. I hate certain words too but for the life of me I can't think of what they are right now.

I'm with you on moist and panties. Also not a fan of the words ointment, hella/hecka, and referring to women as "females" (i.e. using female as a noun, rather than an adjective: e.g. "these females are looking good tonight")

In terms of quirks, I love picking at things. Anything will do--unravelling threads, poking at any little clogged pore I can find, I got dental tools so I could scrape my dog's teeth every couple of months. I really should have become an aesthetician or dental tech instead of a psychologist...although it's basically a mild form of OCD so being a therapist makes some sense too.

Hadley-I not only do that but then have to bring a drink with me. No matter where I go I have to have some sort of drink.

For my words I HATE the word panties(it reminds me of a chester), also moist for kind of the same reason, my brother and sister say the word fresh super drawn out to drive me crazy. I couldn't agree more with hating those words. I also hate words people use to describe poop like ca ca or dookie and just as gross when I lived in VA they said poot for fart.

fightingravity- I even hold other people down and pick their pimples (family members). My BF runs when he knows I have seen something on his face/body.

My quirk is I can't stand people with unkept/unpolished toe nails. I cut mine like crazy and you will never see me with no polish even in the winter.
