1 follie-IUI or TI??

Hi Ladies,

I went this morning to see how my response to Menopur was and I had 1 big follie-measuring at 19mm.  Kind of disappointed there was only 1 but hey all you need is 1 right?!  So do you ladies think it's worth it for the IUI tomorrow or just TI?  I'm just concerned with there only being 1 follie...and we (like many) are OOP for everything.

 Thanks in advance!!

Re: 1 follie-IUI or TI??

  • I am OOP too so I understand. We aren't IUI yet and will TI but with 1 follie I would IUI if you can. I feel like the best sperm having the least amount of swimming as possible would be good for 1 beautiful follie.

  • I have no idea which option is better for one follie, but I will tell you that if you go with TI you might want to consider instead cups.  It is supposed to be like a do it yourself IUI.  Probably not as good as the real thing though.  I used them this cycle and, as you know, it may or may not have worked!  They were actually made for menstration, it is a ring with a flexible plastic cup attached that is suppsed to catch the blood.  I am not sure how popular they are for that since taking them out has got to be super messy.  However, I know many people use them to help with conceiving.  They are supposed to be inserted directly after sex to keep the maximum number of swimmers inside and avoid leakage.

  • For me it would depend on your husbands numbers.  If he's perfect I'd definitely do TI.  Also I'd ask what would the plan be to get you to 2 follies.
  • I was in the same boat, all OOP with 1 big follie.  My husbands number were great so we went with the IUI yesterday.  Good luck!
  • Thank you all for the input-we've decided to go the IUI route tomorrow at 8AM.

I've never heard of those...I would probably be scared of a yeast infection?!  But def something to try if it doesn't work this month!

  • We can't TI as we have severe male factor IF so when we ran into 1 follie we just called it off and tried again the next month. If TI could work for you I would do that and save your IUI $ for a cycle with more targets.

I haven't had a yeast infection in forever (tmi) so I guess I didn't think about that.  I havent heard anyone give that as a side effect though.  It's just a suggestion! Big Smile

  • Most of my IUIs were with only one follie. I would do the IUI to give you the best chance to have that wayward sperm bump into the lone egg.
