Anyone try Zumba on DVD?

I took Zumba at the gym and loved it!  (before baby)  We've since moved and I don't have the time or money for a gym membership now, so I was thinking of trying it on DVD.  I know I loved the class, having the motivation with a group of people, plus the one instructor was great (a different instructor, not so much)....

but, outside of my own personal motivation, I was wondering about doing fitness in my living room with a 14 month old walking around.... I saw a post about ... is it the 30-day shred?  Is that a DVD?

Take a chance. Take a risk. Take the initiative. Make your wishes a reality and make your dreams come true!

  • Honestly, I don't like the old DVDs. They're really slow compared to a class. If you know the music, you can kind of make up your own or watch videos on youtube for some moves. I haven't tried the new DVD set, but I really want to!

    Some current songs we use:

    • Wiggle Wiggle (Just a little bit)
    • Mueve la cadera
    • DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love-Usher
    • Blowin' Up-Ke$ha
    • Que Te Pica
    • Spice World-Spice Girls (don't know how the instructor did this one, but it worked and it was a total flashback)
    • Physical-Glee version (this was a cool-down, but it was fun!)
    • Song with lyrics, "Legs up beside my face so you can see my ace/eyes" I'm still trying to find out the name of this song.
    • Waka Waka-Shakira (Not my fave, but it works)

  • I have one from years ago - it's not as exciting as the class.  But, I also have the Wii Zumba game and it is fun.

  • I've never tried Zumba personally but with exercise a class is always more fun to me than a DVD. But it is a trade off, because staying home is cheaper and more convenient (especially w kids) so thats why I have done DVDs lately. The 30 day shred is a Jillian Michaels DVD (Biggest Loser) that a lot of people on the Bump talk about. I also like her newer DVD, Ripped in 30, and am doing the 30 days now. You can read reviews on Amazon. It is a mix of strength training, cardio, and and in 25 minutes. There are multiple levels within each DVD that get progressively harder and help prevent boredom.
  • my niece has it and it's ok.  i have the ps3 move version of zumba and like it. it really makes you shake your booty.

but not as much fun as a class. but if you are shy like me with two left feet. maybe the video is for you
