Rest and elevation are all you could add. I have/had very bad knees from growing too fast as a kid. There's not a lot to do about it unfortunately. You could also wear a knee support/brace to see if that helps at all.
I'm not exactly sure what I did Fred. The only thing I've done is exercise. Doc said it was probably from squats. Lord knows I do too many of them with my personal trainer.
I will try the pillow under my knee. They didn't say anything about fluid just that it was soft tissue swelling.

I already do Kettle Bell Swings. I'm up to the 32 or 35 # beast. Man that thing is heavy lol
Yay! If you're doing those, ask about clean and press with them as well (if you aren't already doing them.) That's another that will kick your asss. And if you're doing those, you really don't need to do squats. Personally, I think squats are inappropriate for anyone who hasn't already been lifting a year or more. The joints just aren't conditioned enough to handle the stress.

Ditto - especially making sure your form is good.
LCT - 5.15.14 ~ 9lbs, 22.5 inches
We're not doing squats at all right now. At least until the swelling goes down a bit.
