A good friend of mine is getting married this weekend and I'm suppossed to be in the wedding. I just found out today that she has Fifths Disease. She is no longer contagious but it's a possibly that everyone is the wedding party may have it now and they would be contagious. Last weekend everyone but me went on a float trip for the weekend. All of the girls including me all went out to eat Sunday night so I may have been exposed. Just to be safe I have backed out of a being a bridesmaid and said I will be there as just a guest which breaks my heart but I feel like I don't have another choice. Reading things about Fifths Disease and pregnancy scared the *** out of me. I'm waiting to hear back from my doctor but I could really use some T&P. The thought of losing another baby espicially to something preventable like this terrifies me.

Hi-congrats on your BFP! and I totally understand-it was a week before I got the blood test results to see if I had been exposed to Fifth's disease at work (after my son's demise). I had no idea how harmful/deadly it was! This time I stayed away from my students as much as possible just in case!
i'm sure anyone who understands the possibilities of what fifth's disease could do would understand your situation!
T & P's headed your way!

***fireflies*** I remember you from the loss boards. I just saw your siggy. Congrats!
I'm really trying to calm down. I heard back from the doctor on call. I go in for my second betas tomorrow so they will test me for it then but said it will take a week to get results. Apprently 50% of adults are immune and most don't know it. If I'm not immune and I do get the virus there is a 10% chance of loss. That seems high but the doctor pointed out there are a lot of ifs but to just remember that if I have the virus that there is a 90% chance that my baby will be fine. It's hard to take comfort in statistics when they havent worked in my favor before but hopefully they will this time.
My friend is very sad about me not being in the wedding but more than that she is worried about me and the baby. She knows my history and her mom has had several losses as well.
BFP 5/9/10. U/S - no heartbeat 6/2/10 (7 weeks). Induced miscarriage 6/7/10.

Hang in there--as you found out, lots of people had it in childhood without knowing and there's a good chance you're immune (and, if not, it sounds like there's still a very good chance it won't affect your pregnancy).
Congratulations on your move over from TTCAL!
