I know two Remy's. One was a male who I went to college with. The other is a beautiful, smart, successful 35-ish year old female. That being said, I think the name is ok. I don't love it but don't hate it.
I do like Josephine as a mn.
I do like Maren a lot and think it could work with your last name.
I don't think Maren with last name -anan would be redundant. I do agree w/pp that Remy is a boy name-even though I think a Sarah Dessen book might have a heroine named Remy. Josephine is a great name imo.

I have a friend that just had a little girl and named her Remi. I don't know any boy Remis.... only girls! If you like it, go with it. Someone changed my mind about a boys name that they said sounded girly and now I regret it!
Re: Remy Josephine?
Ditto this. It's even more egregious with a French-sounding middle name (since it's definitely a boy's name in French).

Baby Boy born sleeping at 20 weeks.
I just can't picture anyone over the age of 10 with this name.....
