2 under 1 and First B-Day for LO

I'm due with DD #2 about two weeks before DD #1's first birthday.  I am at a loss for what to do for her birthday.  I know it is going to be hard to plan a party with a newborn but I'm looking for some suggestions from those of you who have been through it.

Well I'll answer because I don't think there are a whole lot of 2 u 1. Ds2 due date was a week after ds1s birthday but he actually came 2 days before. I actually decorated ds1s cake while I was in early labor. We planned to have a small party but instead I had ds2. I got out of the hospital on a Tuesday and then ds1s birthday was on Wednesday so we had 2 families over. My mom was here so she fixed a vegetable platter and cheese tray and dips. Then we had the cake I'd made. It was pretty low key but had all of the birthday party elements. I was really pleased with it. Everyone stayed for a couple of hours. My recovery was far far better this time so I felt up to this. I joked that ds2 wanted to be here for the party.

Good question!  My LO#2 will be here 4-6 weeks before DD's 1st bday (scheduled c-section).  I plan to do DD's birthday as best I can without killing myself.  I figure it will be a good opportunity for people to meet LO#2 if they haven't already at the hospital.  Plus, after this bday, my DD and LO#2 will be sharing bday parties (at least with families and relatives) and will get their own days with just DH and myself.  Just do what you can, and celebrate the moment not all the hooplah.  Good luck!

My husband and I decided we just wanted it to be us for his 1st bday. It was quiet but nice. Then in July both boys are being baptized and I will have a small cake for ds1, I know it sounds stupid but he loves the birthday song. Also, our family will be there.

I'm not quite 2u1-we're 12.5 months apart here. But I did DS's birthday party a few weeks early so I wasnt so close to my EDD when it happened. Maybe plan it right when she turns 11 months so you're still 2 weeks shy of your EDD? I'm sure she wouldnt be upset if her party is a bit early.

We are facing that right now. We are going to celebrate just us and the kids on our son's actual birthday and then have a party for our family/very close friends a couple weeks after his birthday.
