Clarification please? 5 point harness and weight limit

I think we are going to get the Evenflo Triumph 65 for DS (after much research and cost comparison!).  But I'm confused. When I read the reviews on Amazon, one person said that she is moving her little one out of the seat to keep him in a 5 point harness up to 65 pounds - not 50. Well this is a 65 lbs forward facing carseat so I don't see what the issue is here. Maybe she was confused...or maybe I am confused?

  • There are a couple versions of the Evenflo Triumph - one goes to 50 pounds FF and the other (the Triumph 65) goes up to 65 pounds FF.  The person who posted a review probably posted under the wrong version of the seat.

  • I think she was confused. There was an older version of the Triumph that had a 40 lb limit. And yes, the Triumph65 is definitely to 65 lbs (hence the name lol!).

It's good to keep in mind, however, that very few kids will actually be able to use the harness to 65 lbs, because most children reach the height limit first. The average child will outgrow the height limit (and will be at the appropriate age/weight for a booster) by age 6 and will not typically yet be 65 lbs.

This. Dd1 is around 97th percentile for height, and she outgrew her Marathon by 4.5 years. (I believe harness height is similar to the Triumph.) She was 43-44 lbs at that point. I wouldn't worry so much about the weight limit.
