A family member wants to get married in SF. She is looking for a venue that can hold about 250 people. Bonus if the place has an older feel. She is going for a 40's type of wedding. Does anyone have a place to start? TIA.
I love the Green Room, but it won't hold 250 very well. You could squeeze it in (TIGHT) with no dance floor and then pull tables out for dancing. I always hated having to do that because people were left without a table and you had to wait for all the "special" dances till everyone was done eating, then tables removed or cleared. You could just slide the tables onto the balcony.
Re: XP: Wedding Reception Venues
I'm drawing a blank but I was thinking about where Stinkerpants had her reception. Anyone remember the name?
The Green Room @ the War Memorial Bldg: https://stinkerpants.com/weblog/post/finding-a-venue

Other favorites are:
City Club of San Francisco (old looking)
De Young Museum
julie morgan room at the merchant exchange building (old looking)

If she can cut her guest list down to 150, have her check out John's Grill
