my DH MAKES me put at least a pillow under the laptop. He is so convinced and concerned that it will damage something. Gotta love him for caring. So now its just habit

It's not a great idea to keep any electronics close to the belly if possible, lap tops included. Another one I read in a pregnancy book last time around that had a section on environmental health also said to keep your cell phones away from it. That was a good one for me to read because I was a nanny at the time and always kept my cell in my sweatshirt front pocket.

I read while TTC that men were supposed to avoid doing this to keep their sperm happy. So maybe there is something to it.
I think this has something to do with how hot the laptop can get and keeping the sperm at an appropriate temperature. I'm sure if you look hard enough there will be research that says the laptop near a pregnant belly is bad news, but if you look hard enough you can find something to say just about everything is bad news for a pregnant woman. I think we just have to use our best judgement and not let it overpower our lives - otherwise we'll be living in a bubble with nothing to eat.

This, I think it is more to do with the heat of the laptop, I personally have mine on a laptop tray on my legs, as I find it more comfy, but if you laptop gets hot I would move it from your belly.

Could it have something to do with the heat coming out of it? Aren't men who are TTC supposed to avoid excessive heat? I know when I'm using my laptop I don't need a blanket on my legs, the computer gives off enough heat.

I read you are supposed to keep the laptop off your body, on a table or something. Also, keep your cell phone off your body. Don't carry it in your pocket or especially not in the pocket of a hoodie. Also, do not sleep with your phone near you and try to use hands free as much as possible. I don't know where I read this but I have been following these things. I've always feared radiation anyways.
