Today DH and I went to see our RE for a follow-up after our three failed IUIs. She was very reluctant to discuss IVF at this point considering how well I responded to the Clomid cycles. She kept saying how everything looks so good on paper, which is comforting and not comforting at the same time...
My RE is also reluctant to use injectibles since they are so much more expensive and have only marginally better success rates. Long story short, she gave me a weight goal if we do want to move onto IVF in the future, and switched our protocol to Femara with Ovidrel trigger.
I wasn't really sure what I expected from today's consult because I don't think we are financially ready for an IVF yet and we and the RE are a little hesitant to try injectibles because of the cost and the small success rates.
The only other interesting thing that came from our meeting was a study that the affiliated university is conducting comparing clomid, femara and injectibles. I called the woman in charge and left a message to see if we were eligible, but I will have to wait and see for that one. The study is blind, however, and I might be put in the clomid group which is fine, but it would just be more of the same protocol. The cost of the meds and the triggers would be covered, though, which they weren't before. If I get in the injects group, I would really be saving some money, though, and I would get to try something new!
WWYD? If I apply for the study, I can't have any meds in my system so I would have to wait through the process and see if I am eligible. Or should I just go ahead with the femara?
TIA
Re: Update - Consult Today

It's been a long journey. TTC since 9/06. multiple IUI's and IVF's and 4 m/c's. IVF#3 = BFP, twins, induced at 34w6d due to baby b passing away (no explanation). Delivered on 35w1d, Baby A - baby girl, and Baby B - baby boy, our little angel.

I would probably do the study.
Good luck making a decision!
