I had my growth u/s on Monday (35 wks 4 days) and the tech said he weighs 7 lbs 1 oz. I know the weight can be way off, but thats actually not what concerned me. When she measured his head, one measurement said 39 wks 6 days, and the other 40 wks 5 days. Are you effing kidding me?!?! I still have 4 more weeks if my original EDD was correct (I've thought all along they were off a couple weeks). So all of his measurements gave us an EDD of June 3rd...20 days ahead of schedule.
So basically what I want to know is if anyone else has had a similar experience. Also, the doctor said he doesn't discuss c-sections until they reach a certain weight...I don't care about the weight! If he decides to stay in there until the 23rd, I'm seriously concerned about trying to push a freaking bowling ball out of me! I'm obvously going to address this at next weeks appointment, but just curious if anyone else has some stories for me ![]()
Re: s/o baby's size
My babies both had huge heads on the u/s (2-4 weeks ahead) and they were both born with huge heads. I had a scheduled c/s. When I saw DS's head, I was very glad I'd had the c/s.

At 37 weeks they said Abby was "already over 8lbs" but I don't recall the head measurement. She was born at 40w 2d weighing a modest 7lb 6oz. I don't think their skull grows much in the last few weeks. They're mostly putting on fat.
Growth varies a lot in the 3rd tri. They should not be moving your due dates around based on the most recent ultrasound. Trust your 1st tri ultrasound more. It doesn't even matter when the baby is "due" anyway. They come when they're damn good and ready.
That is reassuring!
I'm not going by either due date. I don't care when he comes (and like you said, it'll be whenever he's ready). We actually didn't have an ultrasound until the second tri, and those measurements put me at 16 weeks (didn't know how far along I was because we were in the process of getting insurance and I had to find a new doctor), so that is why I am just going with the flow. At least he seems to be just about full term, if he isn't already, and that is what I really care about.
I was super scared of l&d also but it wasn't bad at all (I got an epi and didn't feel a thing). I tore a little and recovery sucked, but I had a beautiful baby girl to focus on and it was worth it.
