Hi! In MrsRosie's post about hypothyroidism, you wrote that you experienced major hair loss. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about a month ago and have lost (and am continuing to lose) lots of hair. Did your hair start to grow back at a certain point after you started hormone supplements? Did you do any other therapies to encourage hair growth? I'm kind of freaking out. :/ (If you don't want to post here, feel free to email me at ruby 44 (dot) austin (at) g m a i l (dot) com.

Re: ***lwoods422***

  • Hi Ruby! I will post here too in case it might helps others. After about 4-6 weeks my hair stopped falling out and then slowly started growing back. The places where I was really thinning filled out again but my hair is a different texture. It really has never full gone back to it's original texture and some of it grew back really wavy. It's not enough of a difference for friends or family to tell but I can and I hate it. But yes, it will grow back and it will stop falling out, it just depends on your body how it reacts if it will be the same texture or not. Yes, I was like you and freaking out because I was losing gobs of hair, whenever I washed it or just ran my fingers through it. I could of taken Biotin and I started too, I just wasn't consistent enough. So I would encourage you to take a supplement that will help with hair.

My sister swears by this supplement to help with both her hair and nails.  I have not taken it myself only because I am just horrible on being consistent with vitamins/supplements.

ETA: Btw... she has beautiful hair and it has a crap load of Biotin in it (supplement).

  • Awesome, thank you so much. I am very happy to hear that your hair grew back. I don't care what texture mine comes back as, I just want hair!!! :) I'm also going to look into that supplement or a similar one that I can get locally.

    Thank you again.
