2nd Trimester

Womanscaping

Soooo, what are you doing, if anything, to keep your "va jay-jay", "bermuda triangle", "coin purse", "vag" tidy?  I used to occasionally get a wax but shaved most of the time before.  I tried to give myself a trim-up in the shower the other day and started crying because I couldn't see my va jay-jay anymore.  I'm scared to go get waxed again because I heard it hurts more when you're prego due to the increased sensitivity of your skin.  I've heard a lot of women say they just let it grow wild once they passed 6 mos. but I'm not a fan of the 70's porn bush...LOL!  Help!

Re: Womanscaping

  • I am with you on being scared of waxing with it being so sensitive down there.  I hope someone comes up with a really good answer!!!

  • What about using a handheld mirror while shaving?  That's what I plan to do.

  • I plan on hedging with electric trimmers...but no razors where I can't see lol!  Using a mirror might work though..

I am getting laser hair removal down there.  It is more sensitive when I'm pregnant. :(  My dh shaves me the night before.  Can your dh shave you?
  • I've been doing some guess work when shaving (shave, check for smoothness, lather and continue). Which works for the everything but the, umm, hedge trimming (apparently, the hair on my head isn't the only thing growing super fast and thick). I've tried the handheld mirror thing to trim up the area, but could not position the mirror, reach around my belly and get anything done without risking a knick.

Now that's it's getting hot, I really want to tidy things up. I'm not used to have this much coverage.

DH offered to assist a couple of months ago when I started to foresee this as a problem, but I am waaaaaaaaay to embarrassed to ask.

  • If I strategically angle myself, I can still do it. It doesn';t look good and is crooked, but it shows I care.

  • I've been waxing and, to be honest, I haven't noticed increased sensitivity.  I'm really sweating when I can't manage to shave my own legs, though... :(

Last time I went wild, and then DH did it for me when I couldn't take it anymore. He, like pp's DH, enjoyed it.

  • What about a lotion hair remover, like Nair? Would that work or is it not safe to use?  That might do the trick.  Let me know if anyone has tried this!

Oh wow, laser hair removal...fancy! Big Smile  I guess I could ask DH to shave me but it's quite different from him shaving his face AND he uses electric.  That might be a little scary.  Maybe I'll try using hair clippers or an electric razor. Confused

LOL, you get an 'A+' for effort! Yes

Almost every single one of you made me laugh, so thanks!

I am still capable at this point, but with DD, I sat on the tub side with a mirror on the toilet and did the best I could. That is, when the crotch pain was not excruciating. The afternoon of my induction, I was on the floor with a mirror and the electric shaver. Thank God there were no witnesses! Embarrassed

  • I have always shaved the area and never really had to "see" what I was shaving. A baby bump getting in the way probably won't change anything for me. I plan on shaving all the way up until the end... Although this answer probably doesn't help you, I'm sorry!

  • I still get waxed. I've been doing it for so long, my skin is pretty much desensitized now. I'm Greek so hair has always been an issue - my hair seems to double itself growing back after shaving, so waxing is the best option for me.

This. Although my plan for legs is going to include sitting in a bath and frogging them out around the belly.

  • Not a fan of the fur bikini so I shaved all through pregnancy.  When I could no longer see the under carriage, I went blindly by feel.

Same here!! I'm Syrian and have some thick a** hair. Shaving also gives me razor burn. I just got waxed last Friday and it felt the same as it always does. I'll continue waxing every 4 weeks as usual.

  • Yeah... I have an appt tomorrow that I want to at least "tidy" beforehand... I'm a lil nervous about grooming tomorrow. Last time it was a little difficult... I'm sure it will be worse now :-/
  • I'm starting to not be able to shave as well as before, doing it blindly kinda could be scary! I'm thinking of growing it out a bit to wax. I used to get waxed but stopped last year to save money, may need to do it for the rest of my pregnancy though. GL ladies

  • okay, don't tell my DH, but I stole his electric shaver to trim it all up. Then I cleaned his shaver up and put it back. He will absolutely kill me if he finds out, hahaha....
  • You may want to invest in a few things... 1 an anti-fog mirror for your shower! It has suctions cups on the back so you can place it where you need and it will stay! Wont fog in the heat of the shower! Leaves your hand free! And 2 a Schick Quattro  Trimstyle Razor! It is a bikini trimmer on one side and a razor on the other! No nicks with the bikini trimmer! Good luck!
  • I have my husband do it for me. It's a little awkward, but he does such a great job with his face, I thought why not let him do it!! And I will admit that he does an amazing job. He is super gentle and careful! Good times!!! LOL...Great question!!!
The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return!
  • I posted the same kind of question on my board! Some one suggested a mirror, which is brilliant. I was able to do some yoga on the bathroom floor and get a trim, but couldnt shave.
