hi ladies. my dd was full term and weighed 5lbs, 13oz. my mom was tiny (almost 5'4", less than 100lbs) but all three of her kids (me & two siblings) were over 7lbs. do you have any suggestions for increasing the baby's weights?
i'm currently 12 weeks with twins. tried to eat healthy during first trimester, but i just dont eat a lot of food ... do you have any specific food suggestions? i'm currently 5'6", 150lbs.
tia!
Re: Suggestions to increase babies' weights?
I focused on getting a lot of protien. For each meal I made sure I was eating protien and and if I wasn't getting enough, I would have a glass of milk or something else with protien.
I'm not a large person, I'm also 5'6" and pp weighed 130. I've since gained 25lbs and my babies have been measuring big. My MFM and OB have been surprised with their sizes.
So while I think you can eat right and get a lot of protien, some things are just genetic. I didn't stress myself out about food, but my DH was a huge factor in my protien diet, he stressed for me
I would also say, if you are worried about your eating habits and babies weight, eat now, because once you hit the 3rd trimester, its even harder to eat. Between lack of space and heart burn eating is not easy.
I am not as small as you- but I had lost a lot of weight (85 bs) before I got pg with my boys.
I focused on eating protein and dairy with healthy amounts of veggies. I gained 20 pounds by 20 weeks. So I was thrilled. I ended up gaining 65 pounds total- however my guys were delivered at 34 weeks and well the last 3 weeks I gained a lot of water - I also had pre-e. But my boys were big preemie twins- according to the NICU nurses. John weighed 5lb 4oz and Nicholas weighed 5lb 3oz. Whos knows how big they would have been if I could have carried them 2 more weeks.
wow, they were big! that's great!!
