xp: recommend your lightweight double jogging stroller

i never thought i would need one because i am not a runner but i walk a lot with the kids, and the city select is heavy. especially because we live in a very hilly area. i walked 4 miles yesterday, which is a shorter walk for me. i felt great except my arms were killing me from pushing the stroller, so i think it's time to bite the bullet.

Re: xp: recommend your lightweight double jogging stroller

  • heavy while pushing? or heavy when putting into the car?

We have the Bob Revolution double and it is super easy to push with walking and jogging, but it is bulky/heavy to put in the car.

  • sorry should have clarified, heavy when pushing is the issue. this stroller will probably live in my garage as i have the maclaren or the city select for when we are going places in the car.

  • I got a Chariot Cougar 2 off Craigslist because they were selling it with both the bike and jogging attachments (and the regular stroller wheels) and it is great for us because we use it for both.  It is bulky, but very roomy for Avi and her friend that usually comes along.  It doesn't recline, though.

  • For ease of pushing I say the BOB is the way to go for sure!  Everyone who has ever pushed my stroller always remarks about how smooth it rides.  I have never felt a more smooth stroller.

You can easily push it with one hand.  I didn't buy the carseat adapter/tray attachment, but there are pockets right next to the kids where you can put their sippies.

    I love my BOB.

I only have one kid to push around, but I love my BOB. The Duallie is somewhere in the range from 30-35 lbs, so heavy, but I think you would find it easy to push. Whatever you get, try to get larger tires, as larger tires  = easier to push (the Duallie SE has 16" rear tires). You probably don't want to get a stroller that is strictly made for running, as those tend to have a fixed front wheel (vs. one that switches from fixed to swiveling like the Duallie or the City Elite).

Do you have an REI or a baby store that will let you take a test drive nearby? That would be the best way to judge! Also - REI is having their 20% off one item sale for members (free to become a member, I think), so now's a good time to buy!

ETA: it's $20 to become an REI member, but with the dividend and discount you would get on that purchase, it is well worth it!

  • thanks for your input ladies! i am going to try the bob with the beans in it this weekend. i swear my fore arms are going to look like popeye's soon if i don't make a change with the stroller on my walks!
