Pregnant after a Loss

Oh weird... this feels real now :) also, a question for ya!

(preface: I m/c'ed my last pregnancy at 13 weeks)

I had my first appointment yesterday and they went ahead and scheduled me for two early ultrasounds- June 17th (8 weeks) and then again July 5th (about 11 weeks). I am so thankful that they offer this to women who have m/c'ed- I had 3 u/s with my last pregnancy, but each time the baby was measuring further behind until finally the last one they realized it was over. I really think that knowing ahead of time that I will have an u/s (and for a good reason- rather than having to go in for spotting, cramps, etc.) will be something to look forward to and I'm excited!

My question for you is that I'm not very familiar with the loss boards (I usually hang out on Eco-Friendly Family), and I was wondering abut the warnings in the subjects lines about siggy pics? Is that something that is usually done here? I don't really understand what it's for, but I don't to offend anyone. TIA!

  • We don't usually do warnings here as everyone is pregnant.  The warnings for the loss boards are to protect those currently going through a loss with an empty ute so we warn about our tickers, pictures, etc... so they know to not open the post if that's something that triggers their grief.  I have also yet to see something posted here that is truly TMI.  Pretty much any body function goes and is free game.

  • Congrats and welcome!!

Ditto pp on the siggy warnings.  I don't think anyone really does a siggy/ticker warning here because we're all pregnant.  If you were to pop over to TTCAL or MC/PL to offer support or advice, I would most definitely put a warning in order to protect those ladies.

I do appreciate a TMI warning if it's truly necessary but I have yet to encounter anything on this board specifically that needed it.  Now the mucus plug post on third tri on the the other hand.....

Welcome and congratulations!  That's great that you are getting a few ultrasounds early on...they can be very reassuring. =)

I see you already got an explanation about siggy warnings from PP, so there is no need for me to repeat it here.  I hope you have a nice long stay on this board.

Congrats and welcome. I also lost my baby around 13wks. I went to a new office and they allowed me to come in every 2weeks for my entire first tri just to give me peace of mind. It really helped me get through it. I hope it does the same for you.
  • Welcome and congratulations!  I lost my twins at 13 weeks as well.  I hope you have a very happy, healthy and uneventful 9 months here.
