Should I tell my boss?

I don't share a ton of personal info. with her, but she's a grandma herself, and she is an understanding, warm person. I've had to leave here and there many time over the past six months due to my losses, so I feel like I should give some sort of explanation. On Monday, I'll be 6 weeks...do you think I should, or just continue to ask to leave? I don't want her thinking I'm going on interviews or anything. :)

Re: Should I tell my boss?

  • I think you should tell her!  If she's that understanding, she'll be glad to know what's going on I'm sure. GL!

  • I told my boss because I am currently going to the doctor twice a week so I figured an explanation was probably warranted.  I think you should tell her, especially if you know she's an understanding person.

  • I'm not telling my boss until I'm comfortable telling everyone. We're not close, personally.

  • I am 7 weeks and I told my supervisor as soon as I found out right around 5 weeks or so. He is NOT an understanding person and would write me up if I didn't tell him...trust me, he was the last person that I wanted to share my joy with. But Its good that he knows now because I have been going to the doctor a lot due to Low Vitamin D and I have a "full blown" UTI that I knew nothing about. They are also monitoring me because with my first pregnancy, I had preclempsia (not sure if I spelled that right). Tell when your comfortable and ready, especially if you arent close. Good luck on your bundles ladies!!
  • My boss knew about my ectopic in December. He overheard me on the phone with my doctor when I had a spotting incident and was told to go straight in. I knew he heard, so I just told him while I was leaving. We haven't spoken much about it since.

  • I told my boss today because I felt obligated to let him know he can't count on my for any projects in the new year. I didn't want him to take on more clients not knowing that I will definitely be out on leave or not coming back. It was a huge weight off my shoulders and I feel a lot better being so sick and not trying to hide it.
