8th grade face :(

So, while I don't normally have the best skin in the world....it has gotten substantially worse.  I might as well get braces and crimp my hair.  Is there anything anyone else is doing to combat this or do I just need to suck it up?

Re: 8th grade face :(

  • My skin looks TERRIBLE! I'm pretty sure my skin looked better as a teenager...I use Cetaphil to try to keep it looking as best it can.  I'm just sucking it up for now!

  • I had the same issue when I was pregnant with my DD.  I never really found anything that helped, but it did get better by the second trimester.

  • I had that same problem for the first couple weeks. It's so much better now and I feel like I have that pregnancy "glow".  It'll clear up!

Oh I hope so!  I feel like it can only get better from here :)  I don't have a lot of free face space left!

  • Oh I totally have had this issue.  I am someone who really takes care of my face and I have a regular routine to fight acne but the past few weeks I have been broken out so bad! I normally have dry skin so I try and make sure to moisturize but right now the only thing that is helping is drying out my skin with an acne product that drys my skin out.

  • Yeah my face is kind of a mess right now. I usually very rarely break out, but this is definitely middle school status!

I'm in the same boat.  I have huge, red, angry pimples all over my face.  I normally use Cetaphil soap & moisturizer but it's just not cutting it right now.  I'm hoping it's true that it goes away in 2nd tri, but my BFF is almost 19 weeks and her face is still the same way.  Sad

I know everyone says it... but remember everyone and every pregnancy is different.  Maybe talk to your doctor to see if there is a safe or natural way to help your skin out

  • Salicylic acid is a no-no during pregnancy, and is found in most over the counter acne products.

However, my dermatologist told me that glycolic acid is safe - and while it's not advertised to combat acne, it does promote cell turnover that can help prevent those pores from clogging up.

Honey really is making a difference for me. I did a post about it a week ago. You girls should try it!
  • So far, my breakouts haven't been too bad. I'm waiting for them to get worse because hormones tend to reak havok on my skin. I use cetaphil or CeraVe and I use them with the Clarisonic, it's amazing. It cleans your face so well, its like getting a facial every day.

I remember this! I'm thinking I might have to end up giving it a go soon.

I'm with all you girls though! I don't normally have amazing skin but this is just getting ugly. I already look 16 as it is without adding the acne...I feel SO unprofessional looking when dealing with clients...

  • Same here!  I had terrible acne growing up, and went on the pill to control it (apparently I'm too pale for accutane).  Coming off the pill I starting breaking out, but I liberally applied zit creams to keep it in check.  I'm still using my regular Neutrogena face wash, but without the zit cream I've got these giant pimples all over my chin.

Sigh... you'd think this is the one great transition to adulthood, and you'd stop freakin' breaking out like a teenager!
