spitting up has me sooooooooo frustrated!!!!

I seriiously cannot take it anymore! The boys are now 5 mos and this is still going on since they came home from the hospital. Now there at the point where were playing a lot on the floor and that just causes so much more spit up....they have their jumpers that they love and when there jumping...guess what happens...more spit up.

There on .1ml of Zantac twice a day, I'm using Dr. Brown's bottles, we switched from Enfamil AR to Gentlease and still nothing......what the heck else can we do...do I just have to live with this until were completely on solids????? I also tried Born Free bottles and they helped a little but the nipples are so big it was so awkward for them to drink out of it...they just kept nocking the bottle out of my hands....uuughhhhhh

It sucks b/c when we go and visit family everyone of course wants to hold them but they end up getting spit up on...i just can't take it. I guess as long as there gaining weight there's not really a huge problem...I just wish there was a magic cure!

  • I'm so sorry to hear you're having so much trouble.  For us using the ready-to-feed version of our formula was the magic cure.   After 1 feeding the spitting up was gone.  I even tried to switch them back to the powder a few weeks ago and the spitting up came right back like it had never left.  It's way more expensive, but worth every penny.  Pedi said they're just intolerant to something in the mix.

Might be worth a try! Good luck!

  • Thank you so much for your input! I've heard the ready to feed works better and I def agree...it's getting hubby to agree...with 2 it is very expensive with the way there eating but were giving more solids so it might not be as bad....i def have to persuade him that this is the best and easiest...it would be such a timesaver to not have to make formula throughout the day and maybe they can just be on regular infant and not gentlease. uuughhh it's such an experiment! lol

  • We were in the same boat with H, she was a massive spitter. Like 20 times a day. No one wanted to hold her, ever. My poor little puker:(

We tried a ton of stuff, but in the end we just had to wait for her to grow out of it.  Solids definitely helped, but didn't fully stop it. It was around 10 months (sorry, I wish I could tell you it was sooner) before it stopped.

Though, I have to say that I have the funniest montage of videos of her spitting up at random times! I'll have it get it online and share it:)

  • Just an FYI, if you sign up for Amazon Mom and set the formula up on subscription you can get the cases delivered to your house for free and they are 15% off.

And if my math is right there's only a $.03 difference between the powder and the liquid per ounce if you order it through amazon.  Plus that gives you free shipping on all amazon prime items.

  • My girls were big time spitters as well.  I have pictures of them at 7 month sold, still with bibs on all the time.  Once they started eating more solids and crawling, it stopped.  The one thing we really tried to do was mix bottles ahead of time, and then don't shake them just before you give them.  You want zero bubbles in the bottle.

Spit up annoys me too. Are you putting cereal in their bottles? That made a bit of a difference for me. When my kids could sit unsupported I saw major improvement. They still spit up but it's much less than before. So you're almost there!

Oh and my jumparoo is super gross too from all the spit up. I clean it of course but I couldn't even sell it in the future knowing what has been barfed onto it. So gross. At 8 months, we only have jumparoo barfs maybe once a week or less. It's much better.
