Need Perinatal Dr. Rec

Hi All,

I'm considered a high-risk pregnancy.  My fertility specialist recommends Austin Perinatal Associates, but my regular OB/GYN recommends Texas Perinatal group.  Before I schedule my first appt. w/ the perinatal dr., I wanted to see if any of you had any experience w/ these two practices.  Thanks in advance.

  • I went to Dr Berry at APA and overall had a great experience (even though the news wasn't so great).

I used Dr.Berry with three pregnancies and he is amazing. He will tell you what you need to know and is caring and compassionate to what you are going through. I would highly recommend him.

  • my ob sends to texas perinatal for the 20wk anatomy scan so i can only speak for that but dr. ridgeway did my son, and my most recent scan.  i really like him.  i have to go in 3 weeks for a repeat scan so i'll see him again.  the staff has always been pleasant the two times i've dealt with them.

  • I saw Dr Sheppard at Hill Country MFM (North) and liked her. She's a very matter of fact doctor, and not cuddly - which I prefer.
  • My doc also refers to Texas Perinatal Group for anatomy scans, and they also did my amnio and genetic testing last time around and I can't say enough good things about how we were treated in a really stressful time.  My only complaint would be even with an appointment first thing in the morning, the wait times seemed really long.

I'm also a Dr. Berry patient. I really like him and his staff a lot!  I saw him intermittently with my first pregnancy and concurrent to by regular OB appointments with my second.
  • I also see Dr. Ridgeway at Texas Perinatal Group, though I primarily deal with Kelli, the dietician. She's great and he seems cool. No complaints.

Sorry you have to deal with being high risk, but good luck to you.

I went here for all of my appointments and saw several different docs there as well as the multiples nurse.  Liked the facilities, liked the nurses and the docs.  The only complaint I had was with their billing.  I didn't realize I needed to pay the copay for each appt.  I thought it was going to be like the OB office because I'm an idiot and had never dealt with anything like this before.  They never collected a copay at the appt's.  Instead I got a bill in the mail for the copay of my previous 5 appt's.  That was a shock.  And at the time, I was going in for weekly checks with the multiples nurse.  No good.  You probably won't have that problem, but I've heard at least one other person (maybe smb?) mention a problem with their billing.  Just be aware.
