Parent in my class having complications after sharing news very early

A parent of one of my kindergarteners seemed to announce rather early (at least to her kids) that she was having twins.  My student brought in a "picture of the babies" for her show and tell and it appeared to be pictures of embryos.  I congratulated the mom in an e-mail I was sending her and asked when she was due.  She was only about 5 weeks pregnant.  Now, she's having complications that have put her on strict bedrest and can't even sit up.  I obviously don't know the details of what's going on, but I just feel so bad for her.  When I learned how newly pregnant she was, I was just hoping her babies would be okay so she wouldn't have to break bad news to her kids.  I just hope everything turns out okay.

Oh that is really difficult.  I have a student in my class this year whose mom gave birth to a baby born still in July.  Announcing my pregnancy was a sensitive topic that I addressed with mom.  She is pregnant again and waited a long time to tell her children.
