    Wipes and lots of them.

    paper towels

a waterproof blanket (for them to sit on the ground with) ~ LL Bean makes nice ones that is comfy soft material on one side and waterproof on the ground bottom side.

  • We LOVE camping!  We'll be going camping with kids for the first time ever in July!  We're flying down to Georgia to go camping with my family, now that the kids are old enough.

My IL's have a lake house with two full size campers on the property, so that's kinda like camping.  I would say whatever you use at home, take with you camping.  I would make sure that if the camping grounds don't have full facilities like a laundry mat, bring lots of clothes.

  • I am in the less is more camp of camping.  I am going next week with a friend and another friend is coming up for the day to hang out with us. We are taking 6 kids, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Entertainment wise, I take a camp chair for each person,  lighter fluid, so I can be sure to get a fire going and cook marshmellows, playdough (we have a camping themed set, they love playing with it while I get camp set up), a bucket & shovel for each kid, Bug net, bug holder, that's about it.

I second the paper towels and wet wipes.  I also take box milk and water, so I don't have to worry about keeping it cold or washing cups.    I also take a lot of individual/easy to make snacks, like apples, dried fruit, bananas, baby bell cheese, & peanut butter crackers.  I also do all meal prep at home, so everything is chopped and ready to go in the pot.  Much easier when you are making things and watching little kids.

    Oh, and I take beer...

  • Ditto Joe-

I do a TON of the food prep at home and make it as easy as can be. But I do all the cooking when we camp on a fire- so aluminum foil is a must for me.

only time we buy box milk is for camping.  ~ a lot of easy 'go to' snacks.

I have the kids wear light colored clothing to make tick detection easier.

  • We've been camping since DD was 6 months old, with the kids.  They love it.  We went from tent, to pop-up and this we we traded up to a trailer.  I must say, I was against it, but it is nice with the kids.

All pp suggestions are what I would have said.  We always put the kids in warm PJ's at night, the ones with feet.  They always kick off blankets/sleeping bags.  Bring lots of warm blankets.  Flashlight.  Entertainment and functiality.  Bring books to look at.  Lots of snacks and prep all food before hand.  My kids like pretzles, peanut butter, fruit cups, juice boxes, marshmellows, and hotdogs...treats like that when we camp.  Bring plastic baggies of all sizes. They work for food storage, clean up, or whatever.  Matches or a lighter and newspaper for starting a camp fire.

Lots of extra clothes/socks and a dirty clothes bag.  The kids get wet, muddy, or spill something and like to change.

Wipes, paper towels, and lots of Clorox wipes and cleaner. Hand sanitizer for bathroom runs.

Good coffee and a coffee mug for you.  And/Or wine/beer for the evening.  Careful, some campground have no alcohol rules, just hide it in a reg. cup. Smile

Bug spray or other repellant.  Sun block and lots of it.

Depends on where you are going...is there a beach near by?  Beach toys, floaties, towels.  Will you be hiking?  Tennis shoes, sandels.  Plan to do stuff with the kids and then let them do their own thing.

I always bring a craft bag.  Paper, crayons, glue sticks, colored pencils, paint, etc... my kids like to go on scavenger hunts and then make crafts/art with stuff that they find. Buckets, shovels, dump truck.  Chalk. Frisbee.  Ball and Mit.

We have to bring bikes and the bike trailer.  We are on them riding around the campground more than anything.

    Bring your camera.

    Have fun.

Anyone can be cool, but awesome takes practice!
