WDYT of Annie Jo?

We're just tossing it around right now. Annie was DH's grandmother's name. Both of our grandfather's middle names were Joe.

Appreciate any thoughts/comments

  • Jo is a bit hick for my taste. I say class it up a bit by naming her Anne Josephine.

  • I really don't like Jo. I love Annie, but agree that maybe it should have a longer given name. My Annie is named Anneliese, after my husband's grandmas (Anne and Elsie).

    YES. Do this.

My personal spite for the nasal-y Anne/Anna/Annie aside, as someone who grew up "Allie Jo" (first/middle) I would have loved Josephine as a middle name instead (which is actually why it's our MN choice for our daughter).

You can still call her Annie Jo, and that's adorable and sweet (if a little country). But at least she doesn't have to be Annie Jo her entire life.

  • I think of Annie as just a nn...I like pp's suggestions of Anna/Anne Josephine.  I also like Annie as a nn for Diana.
