how much diaper cream do you put on boys?

i have a 7month old boy, i wonder how much cream to keep putting on? I used to lather it on, but recently i read an article that it states that you shouldnt bc it can give your baby UTI. Even with boys. I asked the head caregiver at my day care and she confirmed this. My son at this point keeps grabbing his wee wee during diaper changes and scratches himself, so my my question still asks how much? Does he itch bc he has very little cream? or does he itch just to itch? or is he just exploring and found his wee wee now even though he doesnt know what it is? thoughts?

Is he scratching?  Or is he just pulling at it like men generally do (LOL)?  I never put diaper rash cream on my LO unless he had signs of a rash.  If I felt he needed a barrier, I just used cornstarch powder, making sure to keep it in his diaper area.

I don't put any on unless he has a rash.

First, I only put it on as needed when he had a rash.  I slathered it on pretty thick usually.  But only for like 2-5 days at a time.

And, same as my DD.  Same amount, etc.  

And - it's a penis, hon.

Please use the work penis wee-wee sounds so much like a 4 year old. Second we only use diaper cream when he has a rash and even then it takes maybe two changes with tripple paste and that is it.

We rarely use it.. and just enough to cover a rash when we do.  I have probably gone through 4 tubes of diaper cream in their entire 2 years+ of existence.

The discover them very early. Wait until he's 4. Oy.

And it's a penis. Wee wee is so juvenile.
