No more, please.

Crying The tornado in Joplin, MO that killed over 100 people this week was less than an hour away from my family in NW Arkansas. I spent a lot of time on the phone with my sister as she huddled in a closet in her basement while tornado sirens for two additional storm systems went off around her. Some areas had hail bigger than golf balls.

I just headed over to weather.com to check it out, and I saw this:

https://www.weather.com/outlook/weather-news/news/articles/tornado-outbreak-tue-classic-ingredients_2011-05-23

If you click on the link, there is an image showing the area of highest risk for a tornado outbreak today. See where it says Rogers there in NW Arkansas? Yeah, that's where my mom lives. My sister is almost on the Missouri border, and her home is just inside that purple area. Crying My aunt and uncle, my cousins, my sister, my mom, my best friend, countless family friends... they're all sitting right in the path of anything that develops today. NW AR is already dealing with bad flooding as a result of heavier than normal spring rain and the storms this week.

Please send all "no more tornado" dust to NW Arkansas.  I am going to be a nervous wreck until they are out of the clear weather-wise.

Re: No more, please.

  • Oh no!  I know you've been so worried lately.  I can't imagine how this must feel on top of that.  They're definately in my prayers and I'm sending lots of ~~~~~no tornado, storm or flooding dust~~~~~ their way.

    (((hugs)))

  • Springtime in tornado alley sucks.  I have family and friends in the area, too.  Definitely hoping the storms are not the damaging kind.
  • I know how you feel.  My whole dads side of the family lives in Ft Scott, which is less than an hour from Joplin.  :(

One of my top worst fears is tornados.  And guess where I'm headed next week?  Yep.  I'm terrified.  We were in an almost tornado there the last time we went up there too.  So freaking scary.

I'll keep all our families in my prayers for NO MORE TORNADOS.

  • That's really scary! We have "family" in Rogers and in Ft. Smith, and both have been in the path of some scary weather so far this year. Definite dust for no more tornadic activity ANYWHERE, especially Arkansas.

  • The video of the Joplin tornado is absolutely terrifying.  I grew up in the midwest and experienced a few close calls, but nothing on that scale by any means.  Hope your family stays safe.

I didn't realize we had so many nesties with friends and family in NW AR/SW MO. I hope and pray that there are no more storms this week and that everyone stays safe. Sad

  • Sending *safe dust* and prayers your family's way.  I really hope they make it out of there safe, with little or no damage to their homes.
  • Praying for everyone!
