1) push her face into your boob for a second when she bites so it surprises/scares her
2) take her off the breast and immediately end the nursing session so that she knows if she bites, no more nursing
that said, i tried both of those tricks with my son and he still bit me at least once a day starting around 6 months until i weaned him at 14 months. it sucked.
ETA - he did this mostly when he was at the end of the session and no longer hungry. i started to pay attention to those cues and had my finger ready to stick in his mouth to pull him off once it seemed like he was about to bite.
DS has been doing this for a few weeks now. Only he likes to bite down and pull his head away...OUCH! When he does this I tell him no and he grins at me. Little stinker! Who knew it could hurt so much w/o teeth?

Yeah, we call that an "Alice Special" 'round these parts. Not coo. Not coo at all!

Also, the idea is that if you push her nose into your breast she will immediately open her mouth to breathe. Or so says Dr. Sears.

I've done that a couple of times. Once she just bit harder. The other times she finally unlatched but looked at me like I was nuts. Its easier for me just to stick my finger in her mouth. I unlatch her and make her chill for a minute or two before latching back on. If she does it again then I move her to the other boob. Quite frankly, I'm starting to get scared every time she starts eating.

I'm sorry. I totally remember those days. It sucked. Hopefully she wont be like my son and she will stop biting soon!
Re: DD is biting me when BF'ing. :(
some tips ive heard:
1) push her face into your boob for a second when she bites so it surprises/scares her
2) take her off the breast and immediately end the nursing session so that she knows if she bites, no more nursing

Different scenario, but M used to act like that when I would say that to her. Now she laughs when I try to correct her. Sigh....
I think we are going to have to start some sort of discipline...
