Covering stretch marks

I'm almost 18 weeks along and already have the worst stretch marks. We are having a family get together this weekend and there will be swimming, so I'll be bring my bathingsuit. It covers my belly fine, but I have these really dark purple stretch marks on my legs. I was hoping to get something to help cover them up. A water proof makeup for them, I guess. Anyone know of something that would work?

Also, just a side question that has nothing to do with the stretch marks... Has your belly button popped out yet? Mine... doesn't look as deep, and I was wondering when it usually starts popping out?

Re: Covering stretch marks

  • can you just get a pair of board shorts, or a sarong or something? i don't think you'll find makeup that will work and won't cost you an arm and a leg. the only thing i can think of is professional stage makeup.

  • I don't know if I could find any to match my bathingsuit. I just bought a maternity bathingsuit the other day totally forgetting that I usually go for boy short bottoms. I love the bathingsuit, just not that it shows my legs.
  • No clue on the stretch marks but my belly button never popped out with my first child.  It got right about even with my bump but never stuck out further.

  • To help minimize the appearance of your stretch marks, start using castor oil. It won't make them go away, but it may just help reduce their deep color. This has worked for a few people I know and I started using castor oil around my 14th week and knock on wood, so far no stretch marks. Plus, it is very inexpensive and you can get it almost anywhere. It is thick and greasy, but it has worked. Good luck and have fun!

  • Yea idk what you'd put on them makeup wise, I just always covered mine with a bathing suit/shorts/skirt until they faded... I got them in puberty:-/ so far only two on the bottom of my right boob during pregnancy... But ive tried literally everything to fade them accept laser treatment and I had the best luck with bio oil... It faded them significantly even though the were 10 yrs old... And it smells good too. Good luck...

I got them on my boobs and on my inner thighs with my first son. I really liked the palmers coco butter. It seemed to really reduce them.. There's another stretch mark cream out there too but I can't remember the name of it. I think its Mederma.
