Anybody use olive oil to get rid of nits/lice?

HELP!  I could buy rid (or whatever that stuff is) but I'd rather use non-toxic stuff on my LO's for treatment/prevention.

use mayo. NOT miracle whip.

 

I can't believe I know random stuff like this- I can credit 4yrs of working at an overnight summer camp. We dealt with lice at LEAST 4x a summer- huge groups of kids. Leave mayo in hair for 2hrs. under a shower cap. MAKE SURE you get behind ears well and nape of neck.

I was just about to say the same thing, and I know for the same reason:) I worked 6 summers at a summer camp.

yup we did the plastic wrap too (on older kids)

 

i shudder at the thought of lice- I have had WAY too much experience with lice. I get itchy just thinking about it

I've used olive oil before and it worked great.  I used it then did it again a few days later just to make sure.
