A/S scheduled (yay!!!) and question

I had my doc appt yesterday, and it was super short...a doppler check was the most exciting thing.  Anyway, since I will be moving from Boston to Arkansas in the middle of June, my doc said she wants to do the anatomy scan on June 6...a whole week earlier than I though she would do it!  I will be 17w5d then.

She said that it's really early to do it, but wanted to do it then so there would be time to come back one week later if she saw anything bad on the screen.  She said that she would suggest another scan in a few more weeks with my new doc in Arkansas (maybe the first/second week of July) because the organs will be so small and this scan will be good, but not great.

Anyone had a scan done that early and not needed another one?  I would LOVE two scans, but I am just not sure if my new Arkansas doc will schedule it.

Oh wow, 2 weeks!!! That is so exciting! I hope the new doctor is good with scheduling another but I hope this one tells you what you want to know! Do you have a feeling one way or another?

Yay!! Congrats, that's so soon!

I am not positive, but I know people who have had them done at 18w1d and not needed a repeat, and you'll be SO close to that I would think it would be okay. 

But getting to see baby twice wouldn't be the worst thing, so it sounds like a win-win situation!

I had two anatomy scans.  The first was an "early anatomy scan" at 16 weeks with the MFM doc who did my CVS testing.  One to check on LO to make sure all was good following the CVS and two to get an idea of how LO would look at her actual anatomy scan.  The real anataomy scan was done at 20 weeks.  Everything looked great at 16 weeks, with all anatomy measuring within normal ranges.  Doc still wanted to do one at 20 weeks to make sure things remained ont rack, which they did.

 

ETA:  You new doc in AK very well may do their own scan since they will be the ones treating you for the remainder of your pregnancy.

I have no info on an a/s scan scheduled that early but wanted to say that I am happy that you have one scheduled. So soon and you will be able to stare at your lo on the screen

Okay, thank you everyone, this all sounds good.  I just didn't/don't want to get my hopes up about an additional scan if I am not going to get one.  I am super-pumped about how early I am getting to see our LO though, because I was expecting to wait another week!

And as for the feeling, DH and I both really think it's a boy, but that could be because all of our friends/family that had babies in the past 5 months have little girls!

We did ours at 17w 6 days and it was perfect, no repeats of anything needed.

Mine is Thursday at 18 weeks exactly. I'm sure yours will be fine at 17w5d.

I'm sure the 2 weeks will fly by. I scheduled mine 3 weeks in advance and the time actually went by suprisingly fast!

Gah!!!! Thursday, congrats!!!!  I am going to post a November Check in today so be sure to take a look at it...I have a first draft of a chart with names and dates on it, but I am sure that more will need to be added.

YAY! I'm so glad it's FINALLY scheduled. I think I've been more impatient about it than you have . I know a lot of folks that get them done that early and have been able to tell definitively without needing another scan- but I would expect your new doc to do one as part of a doc/patient introduction. 

As an aside, when in June do you leave? I'd love to get you and Liz and I together before you head back down South. PM me if you're interested.
