Stroller "should I"

I'm expecting my firs in Januaryt, and I have the chance to buy a PP-Pliko 3 Travel System second hand (stroller, car seat, 2 bases) for $300.Does anyone have this stroller and would you recommend it? Is it good for using in the winter (think lots of snow and ice)? Thanks!Natalie

Re: Stroller "should I"

  • I would maybe post this on the 'Nurseries and Baby Gear' board as they seem to be experts over there.

My question is are you prepared to have these items laying around in the event of a loss? I bought a system on a great deal and miscarried two weeks later. The items were shoved in to a closet with very little room. I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but consider it.
  • Totally up to you if you think it's a good deal. But FYI, it's never recommended to buy a car seat second hand.

    This.

Me too. Personally, I wouldn't buy anything yet. $300 is not that great of a deal for that stroller. It's a big purchase that you should definitely take the time to research and "test" drive.  Also car seats have expiration dates so it's not always a great idea to get them used.

It's actually ok to buy a used car seat as long as you can guarantee the history of it.  Basically, that would be buying from friends or family only.

To the OP - honestly, while I am a buy usedaholic, I would never pay more then 1/2 value for a used stroller, even if it came with a seat and 2 bases.  Strollers go through a lot of wear and tear and show it easily.  We bought our travel system for just over $200 and it's just over a year old and I would sell it for probably $50 or less now.  So as long as the stroller is worth over $600 brand new, then I would go for a new one.

This. I learned this the first time. I feel like it made the whole thing more heartbreaking.

This.  We've had a travel system sitting in our attic since March of last year because we bought it on clearance when we started TTC.  I ended up having two losses since then.  I never imagined I would have to wait almost 2 years to use it.
