I was wondering if anyone had any experience using the Nap Nanny for bedtim? We used the rock n play for LO#1, but thought the NN would be better for the new baby. LO#1 got one side of his head flat from sleeping in the RNP, Thx
Definitely do not use for sleeping! There was a girl from my highschool that used it for sleeping for her baby and put it in the crib, and the infant died as a result of suffocation. I think it is in the report that the pp posted.

They look really comfy, although I would say not a necessity. The swing or travel swing worked well for us. I think that a baby would prefer the movement, music, and visual stimulation of a swing over a chair that does nothing. Not sure if I would get one.

If I remember correctly, only one model was recalled, and they added something (a buckle, maybe?) to the newer models to make them safer. I still would not use one for sleeping.

I know a few moms that swear by the Nap Nanny! They definitely recommended it to my for my LO, so I did a little research into it. It seems the recall stemmed from somebody using it incorrectly. You definitely should not put it inside the crib or the PnP, but otherwise I would feel very safe using it on the floor (as intended). And as pp said, the newer model does have a better buckle.I think it would be good for keeping the baby close, since it's light and would be easy to move from room to room. My other mom friends have told me that it's great for babies that have reflux, since it keeps them at a good angle, and it's just really soft & comfy.
They recalled the first version which did not include a safety harness. The new version does include this safety feature. Second, the website clearly says that it is not to be used in a crib and the child that died suffocated because the devise was placed in a crib.
I wanted to get one but simply can't justify the price.
Re: reviews on Nap Nanny for sleeping
i have never used one and definitely don't think you should use one unsupervised. also, you may want to read this:

Wow, I had never heard of these before. I'm heart broken that someone lost their baby due to this chair, that's so sad...
I guess that these chairs can still be sold even though there was a recall, Babiesrus.com has them listed, not in store though:
