NBNR: Cla$$y

My (male) cousin had the the tackiest wedding ever this weekend, and I need to share it! Need!

Highlights:

The bridesmaids wore strapless, above the knee hot pink dresses and the groomsmen/fathers/groom wore camo vests.

The bridesmaids were all drunk and talking and laughing when the pastor was saying a prayer for the bride and groom during the ceremony.

The bride was drunk too (before the ceremony even started!)

There were keg stands at the reception (not that bad, but considering all else it just fits it with everything)

The bride and groom took a picture together with the bride's father standing behind them with a shotgun in his camo vest. (BONUS: They actually did have a baby a few months ago, so.. .the shotgun wedding thing might not be so far off!)

I'm tempted to post a pic, but I would have to dd later because I am a chicken and would be scared they would find this post somehow!

  • I keep a lot of people from high school on my Facebook. I grew up in a one-horse (one-stoplight, actually) town which was and still is Hickville USA. Is it sad that you just described about ten of the weddings I've seen so far? I especially love it when the groom wears black wranglers and a nice white shirt. He went so far out of his way to get dressed up, you know? haha

You're from Hickville? I grew up in Podunk! (right between Redneck and Stix-ville) Wranglers--God forgive me, I've been to those ceremonies. You know you've been to a classy wedding when the reception is at the American Legion, the bride has a camo garter, the flowers are made of plastic, and all the bridesmaids' cleavage are popping out of their one-size-too-small dresses. If everyone has a fake orange tan, then the picture is complete. Oh, and cowboy hats--can't forget those.

  • My DH's uncle's wedding was a pot luck wedding.  The groom wore flannel the bride wore flannel, they didn't buy kegs they had coolers of beer and they did put there cans down for the ceremony.  I had just married into the family, so I was not familiar with the extended family, so I was way over dressed for this wedding, to say the least.

Hahaha... Holy crap, I've been to a wedding that had the reception at the American Legion and the bride had a camo garter and I've been to weddings where the flowers are plastic! I thought only people in Hickville did that!

    My regards to Podunk!

  • Where I'm from, wedding receptions are almost always held at a fire hall (the place where the volunteer firemen hang out and where senior citizens play bingo). I had a facebook friend who was excitedly posting pictures of camo bridesmaids' dresses before her wedding!!! Ick!   Not sure what she ended up with, but I sincerely hope those fell through.
