nbr: allergies?

My throat has been scratchy off and on for several weeks.  At one point I had a runny nose....  but since then, it's just been a scratch.  It's driving me batty.  There's a little bit of drainage in there.  A lot of the time, my voice doesn't sound completely normal unless I clear my throat.

I haven't had a lot of seasonal allergies, but with this spring I'm wondering if this is typical allergy symptoms.

Thoughts?

  • sounds like it. if you're looking for easy natural ways to help get some local honey and eat a tablespoon of it a day. or find a good chiropractor, they really help with allergies.
  • Is the drainage clear? If it is, then it's probably allergies.

  • I would take claritin, allegra, or zyrtec for a few weeks to see if it clears it up. I have the best luck with allegra but DH prefers claritin. IT is so nice that these meds are available OTC now. I wouldn't mess with trying to get allergy tested or anything like that unless it starts to bug you a ton. A few "natural" preventatives: vacuum and dust frequently, use a dehumidifer to clear out the extra moisture in the house. Use allergy covers on your pillows and mattresses.

    Thanks ladies!

@buckeye- an allergy test for me is difficult.  My skin welts with the slightest scratch (it's "dermagraphic"), so I have to get a blood test.  Thus, they have to pinpoint what to look for.  Royal PITA.

I took an allegra this morning (dh takes it), and it's definitely better today... I sound much less froggy.  If it's even better tomorrow after another allegra, I'll call my PCP for a prescription for the OTC so I can file it on our FSA.
