First Appointment Timing

Reading a lot of your posts it sounds like many of you are getting into your Dr. for U/S at 6wks...my office said they wouldn't see me until 8wks...so wish I could go now and make sure that everything is progressing as it should! It's going to be a looooong 2 weeks...my first appt is 6/6.

I was delightfully surprised that my OB is getting me in at around 6w. Last time, they told me they wouldn't see me until after 8w and when I went in at 8w3d, I had had a missed m/c.

When I called for this appointment, I asked if I should come in earlier because of my previous m/c but they told me they wouldn't be able to see anything (I didn't even think to demand blood work).

My first appointment is June 1 and the time is dragging!!! I just want to know!!

My first appointment is next Tuesday. I'll be 6w5d. The office I go to normally tries to schedule the first appointment between 7 and 8 weeks, but I'll be out of town for both those weeks, so I got in a little early. I feel like it's taking forever!

Same thing here. My doc won't see me until I'm 8 weeks. And due to the scheduling of the appointment, I'll be almost 9 weeks on my first visit (6/3). Time is draaaaaaaaaaaging, but on the other hand, I feel like the longer I wait, the more info we'll get.

My regular OB wouldn't see me until 8.5 weeks, but because of my infertility troubles I had an RE who saw me sooner. Be glad that you are low risk, and think of how much more you you might see if they do an ultrasound at 8 weeks!

When I was pregnant with my DD the OB office wouldn't see me until 8 weeks and that is quite common. Because I have had fertility issues, a previous miscarriage and I am currently with a RE I am getting extra monitoring.

I will probably be released to an OB around 8 weeks. Good luck at your upcoming appt.!

Yeah, there is enough of a difference between the 8 week u/s and the 6 week one.

I've had a m/c and I'm still not scheduled until 8 weeks for an u/s. I has a minor freak out moment as I passed the point I'd m/c-ed before and called begging for an earlier appointment. That's how I ended getting scheduled for that u/s at 8 weeks. At my OB, you don't even get an u/s until 12 weeks unless you have a reason.

I get your nerves and anticipation, but like PPer said, be thankful that you don't qualify for an earlier u/s. Just think of the nerves of those who need those early and often u/s. Most likely, they've been through rougher issues and might even be at higher risk for more. I'll take my later u/s, thankyouverymuch. Smile

My OB wants to see me between weeks 8-10. I actually won't go in until week 9. Seems like forever.....

I agree it's hard to be patient until that first 8 week appt! Mine is 6/6 also!

I was worrying about this as well, but I will go in for my first appointment on June 6th as well. You PPs really put it into perspective for me!

Good luck at your first appt!! When is your EDD? I'm thinking mine is 1/16/11 based on my last period.

My OB usually has the 1st appointment be at 10wks, however I am spotting so she wants me to come in on Thursday which will be 6 wks. It seems all OBs are different depending on your situation.

I'm using the due date 1/16 right now. From charting I would put it at 1/19 but my ob won't move the date if it's less than a week off. So I'm assuming they'll keep it at 1/16.

My OB sees patients for the first time at 8 weeks, however, I went at 6 weeks this time because I had a m/c in March.

All offices make their own rules for initial appointments. I'll have my first u/s when I'm about 7-9ish weeks (we're still guessing the EDD at this point) and my first appt with my MW at 8-11ish. I'm a little less paniced this time around about the waiting since it's baby #2 with the same OB/MW practice.
