re: grandparent rights.

I dont live in RI and all laws are different.  In IN, a grandparent can't get "rights" unless the parents are divorced and their child is being an inactive parent.  So since you and DH are united in limiting access you would have no worries... I'm unsure as to RI, but this is a common legal approach....

 i did a google search and it appears that in RI a grandparent cannot petition for visitation unless they are totally denied all access to the child with no exceptions by the parents... so let her see him like and an hour on christmas, for example and all is wellBig Smile

  • This is what I was thinking, too. That these laws only really come into play if in a divorce, the parent who gets primary custody refuses to let their X's parents see the children.

  • Thank you, ladies.  I appreciate it.  I also checked with my general counsel, and they said that a 10 minute webcam visit, once a year.  And that she would have to prove that my son would be harmed by not seeing her - otherwise, the rights of the parent trump any grandparent.
