Any other small girls out there with huge bellies??
I'm only 4'10" and almost 31 weeks pregnant and am huge, gained about 25 lbs, mostly all during the second tri and the growth seems to have slowed, as I gained just a couple lbs between my last 2 visits. It's ALL belly, not puffed up anywhere else yet...thank goodness.
So other than some girls at work, I haven't been around many pregnant women before. (I'm the first of my main group of friends to get pregnant) There must be something in the water at work because there are tons of us pregnant women, I feel like I'm the biggest....and not the farthest along. And it feels like it took forever for me to even pop!
Question...when ladies are small, do they tend to look so huge because of there small bodies, so in comparison we look like we due any second?? Anyone know anything about this??
My doctor hasn't said anything about the baby's growth or seem to be concerned about my size, so I'm guessing it's all normal. I'm just a little afraid I'm going to have a giant baby. And would just feel a little relief to know that there are others in the same boat.
Thanks!
Re: Tiny person...huge belly
Yup!
I'm not incredibly short...between 5'3 and 5'4 and I'm 31 weeks now and gained 20 lbs, but I think I must have a short torso because my belly juts straight out!
My first son was like this, too. My belly seemed so huge to me- especially once I was about 11 days overdue! I definitely did not carry compactly.
I am the exact opposite of you (over 6') but my MIL is 4'11". FIL is 6'3". She had a huge belly with her pregnancies as there was simply no where else for the baby to go. Both of her kids were around 6 pounds, even full term. However, they grew at exponential rates once out of the womb and are now tall guys. I wouldn't worry. Your doctor will let you know if he thinks there's an issue.
As for me, I'm barely showing since there's plenty of space for this LO to spread out in. People are shocked when I tell them how far along I am and I just started wearing maternity pants (the maternity shirts are still too big) a couple of weeks ago. I figure it's like this - you're like Rhode Island. Not so big and not a lot fits in there. Baby has to go out and seek out other states for room as there's only so much room in RI. I'm like California - plenty of room to spread around and stretch out so no need to go out just yet. I'm just hoping I'll look a bit more like you when I have my showers next month so people won't give me the side eye and gasp at my lack of a belly when they see how far along I am.
I would say so. I am 5'2" and I hang out at around 120 lbs, 34AA breasts, petite build on top, size 5 jeans - when not pregnant.
When I was pregnant with my DD (she was 7 lbs 11 oz at birth), I looked almost comical. I think I had the greatest growth, however, between 35 and 40 weeks. Like you, I only gained in my belly and I had these skinny arms and a huge belly. Oh, good times! There's not a whole lot of places an almost 8 pound baby can go except for OUT when mama is petite. 4'10" is even smaller! Hang in there, hun! My very good friend from high school is 4'11" and she was bigger than me from early on, when comparing photos - and I'm fairly certain it's because she's so tiny!

Yup. I'm also 4'10" and also look huge already. In fact, just today I got asked that horrid question, "any day now huh?"
I also looked larger with my first but I measured good the whole time through till the end and my DS1 was only 5lbs 14oz born at 38w4d.

I know I'm only 20 weeks, but I'm barely showing. I'm 5'9 and I think he just has lots of room inside to stretch out. (He's measuring 3 days earlier than my dates, so he's normal in size). I could still get away with people not knowing I'm pregnant. I really think it has to do with how tall I am.
