Someone sell me on fleece soakers?

I found a decent deal on some super cute small fleece soakers, and I want to try them out, but all I hear is how they compression leak and you have to wash them too much... makes it sounds like you might as well just use a fitted and a normal pair of pants... do these really work and when do you use them on your LO? These are smalls so would they even serve a purpose since LO won't be able to walk yet wearing them?

Re: Someone sell me on fleece soakers?

  • well you do have to wash them frequently.  i can get by using the same one all day if i rotate it every other change w/another cover.  but at the end of that day it has to go in the laundry bc it gets stinky.

i didn't use fleece until maybe 8 months old, so i'm not sure how well it would work on a small baby, but my guess is that if you're changing often anyway, then you shouldn't have too much trouble w/compression leaks.

i much prefer wool to fleece though.

  • I just made some and it was super easy, super cute, and super inexpensive. I used material I already had but if I had bought the materials it would have been a couple of bucks. If you sew at all you should try to make some. I'm gonna post pics of mine tomorrow (not trying to sell anything. They're just for my personal use). I used mine last night and loved it. But I used it with a PUL cover underneath. We kept having leaks at night with prefolds and/or pockets so I was looking for something to help boost leak protection. So I did prefold, thirties cover, then fleece soaker. Worked great. No leaks at all. I did two so I can use them every other night but since they were cheap and easy I will probably do a few more (and bonus - I have some thirties and bummies covers with bad velcro I was going to toss because they won't stay on. But now I put these over them and they stay on fine so I am getting a little more life out of them :-) watch for me to PIP tomorrow. I made my own pattern so you can too but if you want it I will send it to you.
