AW: Started an elephant DIY mobile

DH really wanted to do an elephant theme in the nursery, with pink and orange. I'm making a mobile, step one is sewing and stuffing a bunch of pink and orange elephants out of felt, these are my first two attempts. I have some different shades of pink to use too.

It's taking forever but it's fun!

 

If any of you have made one, any idea where to find a wooden hoop to hang them from? At the craft store near me they have them but they're for embroidering or quilting so they have an extra piece attached to hold fabric that I don't want.

Those are adorable!  What a great idea!  I don't know where you can get the hoop, but I am often at craft stores, so if I see anything I will let you know.

Cute!  I think most people just use an embroidery hoop.  You can wrap the hoop with ribbon to hide the fact that it's an embroidery hoop or just use the inner hoop (which I think is solid).  You may also be able to find a wooden circle in the cut wood section of Michael's or Joann's, but I don't remember seeing one there.

I feel like I saw non quilting hoops at the Hobby Lobby in my area.

I know I was looking forward to that nursery. I even found little felt plush ninjas on Etsy that I was going to buy and use for a mobile. That's kind of what inspired this idea, but I couldn't find existing elephants so I have to make them.

Yeah I'm looking, so far they're all either embroidery hoops with the little thing, or they're drum hoops which are pricey. I'm sure they exist, I just need to sharpen my google skills.

I googled "how to make a nursery mobile" and plenty of sites came up. I didn't find one that I was particularly attached to.

OMG.....Toooooo cute!  I haven't read about other poster's suggestions for a hoop, but I might recommend some alternatives.  You could get a small wreath from Michaels or get some bendy wire and cover either one up with foilage, like draping leaves or something.  I can't wait for you to PIP your final product!
