Surprise ultrasound today!! PIP

I had an appointment with my OB today for my annual pap. I told DH he didn't have to come since we weren't going to get to see/hear the baby. But to my surprise, when I was lead back to the room, the ultrasound machine was set up with my name on it! I got really upset because DH wasn't there, and if I got bad news, I'd be all alone.

But what we saw was this beautiful baby, measuring 2 days ahead!!!

 

Since we are considered "high risk" until 16 weeks, the OB said she'd be giving me an u/s every two weeks just for peace of mind. Good to know.

Now, I know I'm no doctor, but I can't help but stare at the beautiful round head (partially covered in Santa cap). I keep looking at my u/s with Jack from last time, when we were the same gestation, and this u/s looks sooooo different. They won't be able to rule out anencephaly until my June 9th/11 week appointment, but I am hoping/praying/wishing that everything is okay with this little one!

((Hugs Buddy Hugs)) I love it when the surprises at the Dr's office are absolutely adorable happy ones.

I love the round little head, and the Santa hat (hey - how'd that get in there? - ha ha).  Am so glad that your Dr has a plan for close monitoring to give you information and peace of mind.

Yay!!  I am so glad that you had a great us and you have a doctor who is going to work with you to give you peace of mind.  I didn't get an us at 8 weeks, but at 9 weeks I thought this baby's head looked very round, too.  I am so excited for you!

yay for surprise u/s!

I got an u/s at 9w1d. I could make out the slightest white spot on the head (for skull bones). The OB said it was too early to rule anything out (since it wasn't the high powered one the MFM dr uses), but everything turned out OK (minus the whole giving birth early thing, but her head is PERFECT!)

What a great surprise that is!  Sorry that your DH wasn't there to share in the joy, but I bet he was excited when you came home with a pic!   Super YAY on the ultrasounds every two weeks...that rocks!
