Yahoo! The neonatal nurse practioner and I talked before the neonatologist came in. She said since Gabe has never had any Desats or Bradys while I (or H) have held him, she sees no reason for us to only be doing one hold a day. So, starting today we get to do 2! The neonatologist agreed. I am super psyched.
Additionally, the fortification answers you gals gave me really helped calm me down. They are actually not pulling his IV/TPN until the weekend now because they are going to be a little more conservative with his increases than we'd originally been told (they want to be a little less aggressive since his episode on Saturday). So, by the time he goes into full feeds (and therefore fortification) he will be almost 34 weeks. This actually makes me feel better, and more hopeful that his digestive system will be strong enough to start the fortifier without issue.
Anyway, just had to share with someone. I'm really excited about the increase because H went back to work today, so he was going to miss holding time. Now he'll be able to hold him at night.
Re: We get to do 2 holds a day now!
Whoot! Whoot!
so glad H will be able to hold him at night now! in no time you will be able to hold all the time. I'm just getting there after 10 weeks (before last week I had only held twice and H had never gotten to hold!) It's amazing how we preemie parents learn not to take anything for granted!!
yay!!! Nothing is better in this world than holding your LO.
It's like the clock is on speed....time never went so fast when I was at work!!
