how much gatorade do you think you consume during stims?

H bought me the 16.9 oz bottles on Saturday (30 of them) and I think I'm already half way through the package. Surprise  I keep worrying that I won't drink enough so I pretty much have it in my hands wherever I go, but didn't know what the recommended consumption was....the doc went over ohss with me, but not about ways to keep it from occuring.  Thanks!

  • I just drank when I was thirsty. Didn't really worry about a specific amt. GL!

  • I didn't drink any gatorade during IVF #1.  I hate the stuff.  If I was having symptoms of OHSS and my dr recommended drinking it I would force it down, but I won't be drinking it just in case.

  • My experience was that no matter what I did, I was getting OHSS.

    That's not very helpful.

  • Is your RE concerned that you're developing OHSS?  Unless your E2 is rising too fast, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I drank about a bottle every other day of Powerade during the first IVF, only b/c I was craving it.  I was never in danger of OHSS.  In fact, my E2 only peaked at 1700.  So this time, I'm making a conscious effort to avoid it unless my RE says otherwise.

  • I never make enough eggs to even consider OHSS but I would consider eating hig sodium foods or adding extra salt to things if you want to mix it up a bit from the gatorade.

  • Thanks girls....RE said I am "high risk" for developing it, and that scares H to death, so he is being extra cautious.  I have my first follie check tomorrow morning, so I guess I will see what the numbers are then.

  • I didn't drink any, that stuff has all sorts of garbage in it that you don't really need.  I would stick with whatever your dr. tells you to do.  GL.

  • Gatorade is FULL of sugar and calories, But I have drank TONS of it for the last week.  My doctor told me water was the worse thing I could drink after my ER because my ovaries were so enlarged.  Just drink a reasonable amount and avoid water.  V-8 and soup broth are other good ways to get the salt.

I am used to drinking a TON of water and this has been tough for me.  But I too am at risk for OHSS and every time I drink water I bloat really badly and have pain.  Stick with Gatorade for at least a week!

  • haha this is so funny.. I drank tons.. AND after my ER and the swelling was going down, I was up peeing in the middle of the night every 2 hours.. it sucked, but I think the gatorade helped :)

Too much!  I am not a huge fan of gatorade,  but I drank it anyway!

After 1 IUI, 3 IVF's with CGH/CCS testing, 10 early miscarriages, and lots of tears and frustration, we are moving on to Domestic Infant Adoption!  We are so excited to see what the future holds.
