Stomach Bug - Do I Need to Call? (TMI)

I woke up this morning with what I'm guessing is a stomach bug.  I've been vomiting and have diarrhea as well.  I can't seem to keep anything other than little sips of water down.

I have a lot of sharp, stabbing pains in my stomach, but thus far they have been centralized in only the upper portions of my belly and back.  My stomach is rock hard at all times.  It doesn't seem to come and go as I would assume a braxton hicks or contraction would do, but I'm in a lot of pain.  Baby girl is moving and kicking and rolling as usual, if not more than usual so I'm not really worried about her.

Do I need to call the OB?  I would think there is nothing they can do for me and I just need to let it pass, but I don't want to overlook something important.  I have to take Allie to school at 12:30 but plan on doing nothing but laying on the couch after that.

  • Yes, anytime you are not well I would get it checked out.  This is so they can monitor you in case of dehydration etc...

  • Oh, yuck! I'm sorry you're sick!I had a bug when I was late in pregnancy with Charlotte and I remember they just told me to watch for dehydration since that can put you into labor. I'd definitely call your OB to let them know what is going on. Hope it passes quickly!

  • Oh gosh, I'm not sure. I'm one to call, if for no other reason than to let them know what is going on, so that they can chart and have a head's up if you don't feel better quickly, get dehydrated, and (heaven forbid) need to admit or something. Rest up, drink up, and stay rested! Feel better, soon!

  • I called while Allie was at school.  They said there's really not much they can do for me at this point but if I'm not feeling better tomorrow or get much worse tonight to call them back.  Other than that they said to try to keep liquids down, which I knew.  Ugh.  Please let this be a short bug!
