Hi.. I was wondering how you were doing and if we could chat a little. I have my appointment with the MFM tomorrow and I know she will be talking about the 17p injection. Should I ask her any specific questions? TIA

Sorry, just seeing this now. We can totally chat. We did ask quite a few questions to my doctor, since I just wanted to make sure the shots were right for us -
- Ask about where you get the shots from. Since most pharmacies do not carry them, our ob ordered them specially. I had some trouble confirming that they were covered by my insurance, but then the company they used to order them ended up not accepting insurance, so I had to pay first (roughly $150) and request reimbursement later.
- Ask if your DH can give them to you (if that's what you prefer) and if so can someone at your doctor's office show him how. Otherwise, you can ask about having a visiting nurse come to you to give them.
- If you have any other concerns about the shots, just ask. I had read some mixed info about side effects and actually set up a consult with a high-risk ob specifically to ask him about them. He stated that there were no real risks at all for doing the shots and the only potential side effects were skin irritation or reaction at the site of the shot (which does not harm the baby). He said if there's any risk of preterm labor, the shots are definitely worth taking.
Let me know if you have other questions! Sorry I wasn't online earlier.
