Sippy Cub transistion help for milk...

Looking for tips, my 12 month old will drink his juice and water from a sippy cup no issue, but when he wants his milk he only wants it in a bottle.  I don't know if I should fight this or not and how to get him to switch if I should make an issue of it.

I have #2 due in October and I like the idea of only one of them on a bottle but really only 3 bottles a day doesn't seem like that big of a deal either.

Help, thoughts?

  • Stopping bottles cold turkey worked for DS.  He also really liked straws so we started with the sippy cups with straws.

  • We use a sippy cup without the lid, basically a regular cup, for all drinks of water. DS still uses the bottle, but by 1 yr we will try to transition him to cups of milk.

  • I'm in the same boat, but DD is turning 2 and still will only drink milk from a bottle.  She has one at night now.  We've been trying to give her the horizon organic milk cartons for school.  Her teacher hasn't had much feedback yet but she's at least trying.  She absolutely refuses milk in a sippy or a glass.  GL.

  • I decided to wait.  DD did the same thing, in fact she wont even take juice at all.  Water from the sippy and milk from the bottle only. Dont put the stress on yourself if you dont have to, but if you do decide to get rid of the bottle I would use a different kind with #2.   This month I decided it was high time she cut the bottles.     (22 months already!)  I began giving her milk in her sippys and water in the bottles.  It took only a day and she started drinking some milk from the sippy at each meal.  She got pissed about the water in the bottle and refused it entirely so after 2 days I gave her milk in a sippy cup before naps and now were only down to 1 bottle before bed.  I will be cutting that in about a week, but I want to make sure she gets enough fluids with the change because she constipates easily.   Just do whatever is right for you and your little one at this time theres really no rush!
