mrspresley:we have a dropside crib and i have no qualms about it. i've actually never used the dropside but it is there. i guess if she was the kind of baby that yanked and pulled and rattled the railing back and forth i'd be concerned but all she does is stand there and hold onto the top of it (she doesn't even chew on it) so i really feel like there is no risk of anything dangerous happening w/it.
OMG are you serious? How did you manage that? Is she just not interested?
I have super chewers. Both our cribs look like a family of beavers moved in.

This exactly here! The fleece covers I bought is working well though and he's barely even tried chewing it much anymore...I think the material makes him not as interested in putting his teeth on it?
Good to know they work! I still need to buy/make some...I keep putting it off, which isn't helping the situation lol!

J is the same - he has never chewed his crib and actually was never really interested in teething toys -- even after he started spending more time there as he puts himself to bed and sometimes plays for a while in the morning. For example, his Sophie toy looks brand new. He does like his paci though - especially when teething and didn't use one until 5mo or so (coincided with teething) so I guess that makes him feel better. And he sucks on his lovey - YUCK.
He did go through a phase of biting fabric (I think you mentioned your boys do this lisa?) where he would try to catch fleece or stuffed animals between his top and bottom front teeth and then yank away. I had to take away some stuffed animals because he was going to make them go bald (and ingest that fuzz/fabric... blech!).
