Pregnant after a Loss

Lovenox, bruising in other parts of your body you weren't injecting in.

I just started Lovenox this week. I thought I was doing good the first couple of day but the 4th day I got a bruise the size of softball on the side belly. I'm learning for all these post this is normal. The next day I realized a huge bruise on my leg (size of a baseball) with a large bump about the size of a quarter in it.I'm not jnjecting in my legs so I'm not sure if I just bumped into something, but still BIG bruise and bump!!  It's been a couple of days and the the bump is still there as well as the bruising. I was just wondering if anyone else had gotton brusies with bumps on other parts of there bodies where they don't inject. I called the doctor and the doctor on call said this was normal but I'd like to hear it from other women that are using this meds as well.

Thanks

Never happened to me. while on Lovenox you bruise and bump very easily. To help prevent the bruising and knots on stomach, vary the areas you inject.

  • I'm on heparin, which does the same thing.  I've never had bumps elsewhere, but you'll generally bruise more easily now.  I hit my arm really hard last weekend and have a huge bruise to show for it.  The dr warned me this would happen so seems normal.

Well, it's a thinner, so it makes sense that you would get bruises in other places. I would run it by your doc.

I did get some bruising on other parts of my body, but I'm klutzy, so I couldn't tell you if it was from the Lovenox or not.

  • Wow, a softball-sized bruise sounds big!  My directions sheet from my doctor said to call if I get any bigger than a silver dollar.  I have yet to bruise elsewhere, besides when I have my blood drawn.  I did pretty well at avoiding bruising for a while, then started getting some nasty bruises.  This weekend, I used ice for longer and that seemed to help quite a bit.  I plan on calling the doctor this week with a bunch of questions, but I have a feeling it's all normal.  I just hate how my naked belly looks right now!

  • Lovenox is a blood thinner so you will definitely bruise more easily.  The bump is inflammation from the surrounding tissue.  I don't know why you would be getting the bumps, but the bruises are totally normal.  When I bump something, I get a bruise and it stays bruised for much longer than it used to.

  • I wanted to add don't rub the injection site. That will make you bruise if you are. And make sure you're pinching and inch!
