Does anyone know which is cheaper- diapering service ($96/month here locally) or washing the diapers yourself? Not sure what the water bill would look like at home if we did the washing ourselves. Wondering if anyone's tried it and could tell me which is more cost effective? We're moving into our first home next week so I really have no basis to compare to as far as water bills go.
Thanks!
Re: Washing vs. Diaper Service?
Under $10 for water and electricity here, too.
There's no way we could afford a service.
I'm sure it depends on your area, but it's been much cheaper for us to wash our own since I think a service in my area would be $75+. We just got our first water bill since LO has been around and it went up $3 per quarter. Our electric bill went up a bit in February, but that was probably mostly due to us heating the house for a NB instead of just us. Even that was barely noticeable, maybe $10/month. We dry everything on the clothesline or drying rack to keep this down.
As long as you don't have to pay per wash load it can be pretty cheap.
