Hello Everyone,
I am writing out of desperation:). My twins are almost 6 months and seem to be teething:(- without a tooth in sight. They are very crank-n-stein particularly when they get tired. The problem that we are experiencing is that they seem to fight going to sleep. We try to put them down when we notice the early signs of sleepiness - yawning, eye rubbing etc. They just seem to force themselves to stay awake. We end up having to hold them/rock them for long periods of time before they will go down. If we try to engage them in a story, play, etc it only makes them crankier. We try rocking them in the glider but they detest us sitting down when they are tired. I love my girls and would hold them all day if my back could stand it. I am more likely to try using pu/pd but not sure when we can start. My girls corrected age is about 4.5 months. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
p.s. they go to bed for the night easier and sleep anywhere from 8-9 hours.
Thanks for your time.
Shelly
Re: nap hell
How long has this been going on? It sounds like it could be one of three things 1) late 4-month wakeful due to their adjusted age (ours went through that period about 3 weeks late and they were born at 36w4d), 2) 6-month growth spurt, or 3) overtired.
What time do your LOs get up if they go to bed at 8-9pm? Ours need to go to bed around 6:30pm since that age. There's no way we could keep them up that late without meltdown city. Also, how long are you keepign them up between naps? If it's more than 2-2.5 hours, then they could be overtired. Try putting them down earlier.
I'm sorry you're going through this. I know how hard it can be.
I have found with my girls the eye rubbing, yawning is when they are past tired. Don't worry it will get better my girls didn't settle into good naps until they were 9 months old and are now napping two- 3 hours a day which makes a pg mommy super happy!!!!
